By using the Service, you consent to the practices described in this policy.

Information You Provide
Account information — email address and authentication credentials when you sign up via Apple Sign In or email
Birth data — date of birth, time of birth (optional), and place of birth (including geographic coordinates), which are required to calculate your Vedic birth chart
Profile name — a display name used to label your chart within the App
Compatibility profiles — birth data of other individuals you voluntarily add for chart comparison features
Information Collected Automatically
Device information — device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers
Usage data — anonymous, aggregated analytics such as feature usage patterns, session duration, and crash reports to improve the App
Purchase information — subscription status and transaction identifiers, managed securely through Apple's in-app purchase system
Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect precise real-time location data, contacts, photos, health data, financial account information, or browsing history. We do not use cookies or web-based tracking technologies within the App.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use personal information solely to provide and improve the Service:
Calculate your Vedic birth chart, Moon Sign, Birth Nakshatra, planetary positions, and Dasha periods
Generate personalized AI-powered astrological readings and insights
Enable compatibility analysis between birth charts via the Ashtakoot system
Authenticate your account and sync your data across devices
Process and manage subscriptions through Apple's App Store
Send transactional communications related to your account
Analyze aggregated usage patterns to improve App performance and features
Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service
3. AI-Powered Readings
Nakshatra uses third-party artificial intelligence services (currently Anthropic's Claude) to generate personalized astrological readings. When you request a reading:
Your chart data (planetary positions, signs, and houses — derived from your birth data) is sent to the AI provider to generate the reading
The AI provider processes this data solely to fulfill the request and does not retain it after the response is generated
Your data is not used to train, fine-tune, or improve AI models
AI-generated readings are for entertainment and informational purposes only and should not be relied upon as professional advice
4. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored using Supabase, an enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure platform. We implement the following security measures:
Encryption at rest (AES-256) and in transit (TLS 1.2+)
Row-level security (RLS) policies ensuring users can only access their own data
Secure authentication via Supabase Auth with support for Apple Sign In
Regular security monitoring and infrastructure updates
While we employ commercially reasonable measures to protect your data, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only in these limited circumstances:
Compatibility features — if you voluntarily share your chart via an alignment code, only the chart data you explicitly elect to share is visible to the receiving user
Service providers — we use trusted third-party providers who process data on our behalf and are contractually obligated to protect it:
Supabase — database and authentication (data stored in the United States)
Apple — payment processing and App Store distribution
Anthropic — AI reading generation
Legal requirements — when required by law, subpoena, court order, or governmental request, or when necessary to protect our rights, safety, or property
Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to the acquirer honoring this Privacy Policy
6. International Data Transfers
Your data is processed and stored in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. Upon account deletion:
Your personal data (birth data, profile, readings, compatibility records) will be permanently deleted within 30 days
Anonymized, aggregated analytics data that cannot identify you may be retained indefinitely
Data required to be retained by law (e.g., transaction records) will be kept for the legally required period
8. Your Rights & Choices
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:
Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
Correction — update or correct inaccurate personal data
Deletion — request deletion of your account and all associated personal data
Portability — request an export of your data in a structured, machine-readable format
Objection — object to certain types of processing
Withdrawal of consent — withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent

9. California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):
Right to know — you may request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you
Right to delete — you may request that we delete personal information we have collected from you
Right to opt out of sale — we do not sell your personal information. We have not sold personal information in the preceding 12 months
Right to non-discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights

10. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected data from a child without parental consent, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately.
11. Do Not Track Signals
The App does not respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals because it does not engage in cross-site tracking. We do not track users across third-party websites or services.
12. Third-Party Links
The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services (e.g., the Apple App Store). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by other means prior to the change becoming effective. The "Effective" date at the top will be updated. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
